Gerardo Ubieda is one of the most important drummers that has emerged on the Venezuelan music scene and since the late 1970s, his name has been a common presence in different musical adventures that span the fields of symphonic-progressive rock, new wave, heavy metal, hard rock and pop; either as a member of renowned groups, as a session musician or in their solo projects. His name comes to the fore as a member of the group TÉMPANO, a long-standing band where Gerardo Ubieda has developed a large part of his musical career, being the only musician who has participated in all stages and recordings of TÉMPANO, since Atabal Yemal (1979 ) until the recent record production Nowhere Now Here (2016).
Also it appears in the record debut of another well-known band as it is PP´S, in the album PP´S (1980); Along with PROYECTO FRANKLIN HOLLAND, on his album Al Público (1985), he is part of the group MASSAKRE, and participates in the recording of FICCIÓN's Sobre la Cresta de la Ola (2006). He also develops projects as a soloist where he explores the fields of progressive rock (ODRAREG, with the album God´s Garden) and electronics and ambient music (ELECTRIC GARDEN, with the album En Este Valle). His talent appears in countless recordings and presentations by artists from different musical currents such as Kiara, Fábrica de Sueños, Grupo Klasse, Gustavo Trias, Edgar Alexander, Guillermo Dávila, Quarzo, Raimundo Rodulfo, Trino Mora, Adrián Celli, among others; thereby demonstrating the high versatility that he has as an instrumentalist.
In addition to the drums, he also plays other percussion instruments, keyboards, and works as a composer, arranger and producer. Currently he maintains his musical activity with TÉMPANO, TÉMPANO DE LOS 80, TRIP MACHINE and ZENYATTA (Tribute to Police) in the city of Miami.
